Category: Accessible Games
A couple of friends told me about this game and I've been playing it for a few days. The game is called Trukz www.trukz.com You get to drive a truck and make deliveries to different parts of the world. Its pretty fun. Does anyone else play this game? Yes, it does work with JAWS.
We are working on getting more money so we can set up a company. Its a pretty accessable game even though it was not made for blind people. Unfortunately you only get so many turns a day.
I've just recently started playing this game too. I'm quite enjoying it though as you've already said, it is a little bit limited because of the number of turns you get in a day. For those that don't know but are thinking about playing, every time you perform a game action, driving for an hour, repairing your truck, refueling etc. you take a turn. You only get a certain number of these because for every turn you take, your truck driver gets a little more tired. I have managed to get 14 turns out of my driver once though at that point he refused to drive any further saying he needed to sleep. That said on another occasion I fell asleep at the wheel after just 12 turns. The point though as that for every turn you do take, your driver then needs an hour of real time to restore that amount of energy. So if you drive for 10 turns, you'll have to wait 10 real time hours before your driver will be fully refreshed again.
It is a good game though, not very time consuming plus, if you're willing to do a little research away from the game, it is definitely a good geography teacher.
Dan.
Wow I haven't got 14 turns yet and I haven't fallen asleep at the wheel yet. LOL
Well, falling asleep at the wheel definitely isn't to be recommended. It proved quite costly in fact because I crashed the truck. *Grin*. Still, live and learn.
I've actually today just discovered where I can find out what cities need what supplies which should help bring in more money because before I was some what flying blind. I suppose that'll teach me to look around some before going off half-cocked.
Could definitely use a new truck though, I'm driving a real old battered banger at the moment.
Dan.
Don't they change though? The supplies wanted for each city don't stay the same.
Well, I haven't played the game enough to really know the answer to that question. I suppose though it would make sense for things to keep changing.
But I'd assume that the information on the page I found is updated regularly to reflect the needs of individual cities. I hope so anyway as I intend to make use of it.
Next stop Chicago then.
Dan.
